Adelphos:
It was warm. Adelphos had, actually, no desire to go hunting. He held out looking for rabbits, meerkats or sandrats. However, he searched for 2 hours in vain. Maybe I am just too stupidly to go hunting..., he thought. He wanted to surrender but then he smelt meerkats. Adelphos held out looking for a hole or something similar. And then he found 10 steps on the right from him, a small heap of earth. With thanks to the Spirits he approached to the hill. Don't 'grrrr' this up Adelphos!, he admonished himself. On quiet paws he examined the opening. The smell was not quite fresh. But the smell is at least three hours old. That means that the main entrance has to be here in the near..., pondered Adelphos. While he crept on he discovered brown heads a few meters away from him. The Sprites have meant it well with me today, thought Adelphos happy. These were not many meerkats, however, he still wanted to try to hunt them. To count the meerkats Adelphos approached to them. "1,2,..4, and 5", he counted quietly. Adelphos slowly stood up and ran forwards. The meerkat had noticed him but Adelphos was quick. One of the meerkats lay in the sun and didn't got up fast enough. There Adelphos saw his chance. He ran to the meerkat and tried to catch it.The sand around the cave had been loosened by digging and Adelphos remained stuck with his Hind paw. "Tale stercore!", he cursed. The paw didn't sunk completely and Adelphos could push himself with three legs forwards. The meerkat didn't come that far in the meanwhile. Adelphos opened this mouth and bit in the hind leg of meerkat. However, the meerkat was still running and Adelphos bit off the hind leg. The meerkat dropped himself and shrieked and shouted after his friends. Meanwhile Adelphos could escape and walked to him. "I'm sorry I did this to you.., he he apologized. "But now i'm going to end this."He put his paw on the meerkat and bit him in the neck. Everything was over. Adelphos picked up the meerkat. As he was bury it, to fetch it later, he saw appearing a shape in the distance. The shape came closer and Adelphos recognized a dog. It was Aeneas. "Salve", he welcomed Aeneas. "What brings you here?". Obviously hunting you stupid dog..
Aeneas:
"Salve friend" he spoke. Aeneas had a deep voice and spoke with intent always. He wasn't the sort of dog to 'cut loose' or have a wild night.
"The noise of terrified meerkats. What else, I thought I might share in your spoils"
He hadn't been trying to hide Adelphos would have seen him either way, it was open plains and anyway this was the neutral zone. By any means Aeneas didn't need to hide either. He was a large dog, well built. He knew his muscle could fend off most creatures, so he was rarely afraid of getting caught. He had managed to catch a meerkat as well, it lay by his feet, but this one was different to Adel's. Aeneas knew that once he was in the right frame of mind Adelphos was a good hunter, one of the best he had seen. But if he wasn't, then Adelphos was sloppy.
"For a moment there I thought you were stuck. Thought I might have to give you a hand." He smiled "it was a good hunt, how long had you been tracking them?"
Since Aeneas knew that Adelphos was often insecure, he liked to compliment him. Adel was a good hunter, at times he just didn't realise it.
Aeneas leaned down and muttered a short prayer over the meerkat's body before taking a bite.
Adelphos:
Adelphos looked at the muscular dog. The deeps voice of Aeneas intimidated him a bit. "Yes, actually my leg was stuck. But i got the Meerkat after all.", he answered. Sometimes Adelphos surprised himself about his honesty. As he heard the compliment of Aeneas hr looked down at his paws embarrassed. "Oh! T..thank you. Actually i found them accidentally.", Adelphos looked up."I wanted to give up but then i saw the meerkats.". As he talked, Adelphos noticed that Aeneas was eating. A warm feeling spread through his belly."I hope my efforts taste good.", he said happily. Adelphos looked at Aeneas, smiling and happy that other dogs like what the does. Suddenly he noticed how awkward that should look like and started eating the leg of the meerkat.
Aeneas:
Aeneas could tell that Adelphos was smiling without looking at him. It was coming across in his voice. That kind of shaky tone, Aeneas knew it meant Adel was happy.
"They do" he muffled a reply, some meerkat stuck between his teeth. Some of the meerkat blood had leaked onto his bandana. It wasn't his favourite animal to eat. It wasn't even in Aeneas' top ten, but a friend had helped catch it and he had been raised with the highest of manners.
By now Aeneas to was smiling too. He was certainly a large dog and that often scared others, but he knew Adel didn't mind. They were comfortable around each other. Which Aeneas enjoyed, to many dogs were afraid or scared of him, just because he was big.
"Thanks for the lunch" He looked towards Adelphos who was also almost finished.
"Have you been up to much?"
Adelphos was in another pack so Aeneas only saw him every now and again. It was only when Aeneas' patrol ended in the middle of the day he got any chance to come to the neutral zone. Never mind meet one of his friends.
Adelphos:
Adelphos swallowed the last bite down and licked his lips. Aeneas was a really nice dog, even if he was muscular. Why I actually have fear? He's incredibly nice., he wondered. Adelphos looked to Aeneas:" Not that much." , he replied. After a few minutes it blurted out of him suddenly: "You are such a nice dog. Do other dogs fear you? I mean you look really fearsome.". Adelphos open up his eyes wide as he realized what he just said. You can save this..somehow.., he he encouraged himself. "I just wondered, since I'm not really the smallest too.". What have i done?.., and then Adelphos stood up.
Aeneas:
Aeneas looked at Adel for a moment. Granted Adel wasn't the smallest dog in the world and maybe some dogs were afraid of him. Aeneas could defiantly see the possibility if the other dogs saw him hunting. As for Aeneas though, yes he was a large dog, but that was his packs standard. Even Auroas his packs founded had been a large dog. The question had shocked him, that was for sure, but Aeneas wasn't to sure on replying. "The dogs of my pack, do not fear me, they are a similar stature or can see past my muscle." He waited for a moment still formulating his answer. " I know other dogs, who strike fear into others, who have tales written about them to get pups to do right. But I also know others who fear anything that can cast a shadow and then there is me. I suppose some dogs fear me, it is a definite possibility but fear is a relative term my friend"
Aeneas could be hot headed, but Adelphos was his friend and hi didn't want to bear his teeth at him. Aeneas had lost to many relationship that way. Now his manners ruled what he said and did. His father had been stubborn and hot headed and he had ended up dead and although Aeneas was named after him, he didn't want to end up like him.
"Are you having trouble with another dog? Is there one who fears you?"
If Adel was having a problem Aeneas wanted to help, his brows furrowed at the idea someone was causing his friend grief.
Adelphos:
Adelphos was surprised about the caring of his friend. There are only a few dogs that are interested in him. He looked down, "I always had..., he whispered. Thinking about all the dogs biting him, only leaving the bones for him to eat and then let him sleep out of the save walls, Adelphos felt anger and sadness. But those times are over, he his still shy but nobody would ever bully him again. "No, not at the moment., he laughed. appreciating the reaction of his friend and nudged Aeneas. "Don't you have to go back soon?, Adelphos asked in his really directly art.
Aeneas:
Adel seemed to be avoiding the question, but Aeneas had been raised with manners and didn't want to pry. He nudged Adel back playfully before licking the last of the blood from his maw.
"I'm to report to the Alpha at noon, so I have some time, and since I have nought to report the Alpha should be happy"
He didn't mind mentioning the Dawn Packs lack of problems in front of Adelphos, he often told Aeneas the news in the Day pack. When they didn't act like friends they spoke as allies.
Even to this day, they kept each other updated.
"Do tell me if someone does bother you though . . I would hate to see my friend hurt"
He changed the conversation back for a mere sentiment. He didn't expect Adel to answer, just to understand. Aeneas would fight in his corner.
